A taste of Kassel – local specialities
Whether fashionable street food or tasty brunch, trendy organic restaurant or smart gourmet Mecca: the documenta city also has quite a bit to offer in the area of culinary delights. An increasing number of its cafes and restaurants rely on flavoursome regionally produced ingredients. Many menus also feature culinary treats or "Schmeggewöhlerchen", as the locals say, that are typical for northern Hesse. Bon appetit!
Voit: Kassel's star-rated restaurant
The Voit in the Vorderer Westen district was Kassel's first restaurant to win a Michelin star – and now attracts lovers of top-class cuisine from all over Germany. They can not only look forward to an excellent meal but also to a special ambience that is characterised by the restaurant's stylish designer furniture and its open kitchen.
ENO tapas & wine bar
The ENO on Goethestern in Kassel offers an enjoyable trio of treats: it is a restaurant, a tapas bar and also a wine bar. Gianluca Magnesa and his team spoil their guests with exquisite wines and dishes. The ambience is also impressive: the ENO is located in a period building that dates back to the late eighteen hundreds and has been stylishly renovated in a style that mixes natural wood with well-balanced colours and Italian art.
